Springtime Painting in Colorado springs is COMING! Psst -- How's your paint job??

Here we are in 2019; a new year once again.

Did you end up getting your home re-painted last year? Or did the time and the paint season pass you by? Do your home need it? When's the last time your house's exterior was painted?

When the snow lets up a little, you might want to take some time to look around outside. Even if your colors still look 'okay' from a distance, if your paint job is going on 10 years old, more or less, there might be weak spots in the coat here and there that's letting that winter weather penetrate and start to rot the wood.

Some good places to check are:

  • The bottom of the trim around your garage door. Is it cracking and peeling?
  • The horizontal surfaces of trim around your garage door or front windows.
  • Areas where exterior walls connect with sloping roof sections. Is the water running down there peeling the paint?
  • The gables--the top triangular pieces of trim at the peaks of the house. Are they cracking and peeling?
If you're seeing damage in some of those places, it's an indicator that your paint job is beginning to fail. If you're not sure what to look at, one of our specialists would be happy to come out and assess the situation for you for free!

Give us a call at 719-434-2435
for a FREE, No-Obligation Estimate!

We're not painting during snow storms, of course, but whenever we have clear weather for a few days, you might be surprised to learn that modern paint can be applied and cured almost down to freezing temperatures! If your house really needs it, lock it in and get it done before your underlying wood and siding (much more expensive to replace) starts taking serious damage.

By the way, we do far more than just exterior painting:
  • Exterior painting and staining
  • Interior painting
  • Replacement Windows
  • Roofing
  • Gutters
  • Garage Doors
  • Skylights
  • Doors
  • Siding
  • Stucco over Siding
  • Stucco Restoration
  • and more!
We're running some great winter specials right now, so give us a call to see how we can help and lock in pre-Spring pricing!

Can you Paint a House in the Winter?

Winter in Colorado Springs

Here we are. Winter is coming. Cue the next "Game of Thrones" meme joke, right? Nah--we did that last year.

If you've been meaning to have your house painted this year, now that it's after Thanksgiving and we're going into the colder months, it's too late ... right??

Not exactly. :)

People don't really consider painting over the winter. It's generally assumed that once the snow starts falling, you'll have to wait until next spring to get that project done! In actuality, we paint year-round. When it comes to modern paint and equipment from premium brands like Sherwin Williams, PPG, and others used by Front Range Exteriors, exterior paint technology these days is fascinating.

As long as the exterior temperature is 35 degrees or higher, your home can be painted with the right products and the paint can cure very well in the cold.

If you're curious about still getting a free estimate for the exterior painting of your home during this winter, please give us a call. Heck--you might even find yourself a great deal because of our seasonal discounts!

Truth is, we have plenty of decent weather over the winter in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. Most of the time, our winters may be brisk, but they're also clear and sunny. There are snowstorms here and there, and of course there's no (exterior) painting getting done then, but as long as we can find a couple of days of clear weather with an air temperature of at least 35 degrees, we can paint your house.

What Else Can Be Done in the Winter?

At Front Range Exteriors, we do more than just exterior paint. If you have other projects you've been meaning to get around to, we can help with many home renovations:
  • Exterior and Interior Painting and Staining
  • Siding, trim, and other wood repair and replacement
  • Full Stucco-Over-Siding
  • Stucco Restoration of old, cracked and discolored concrete-based stucco
  • Replacement Windows and Doors
    • This is a BIG ONE for the Winter! It's a great time to replace your draftiest old windows and save on your heating bill! All of our products are Energy Star rated, and you might find yourself eligible for tax credits.
  • Roof Repair and Replacement (also possible in the winter on clear days)
  • Gutter Replacement (are your gutters old and clogged? Might cause some ice and leaking problems over the winter.)
  • Garage Door Replacement
    • Another major thing you can do to save on your heating bill! If you still have one of those old Masonite wooden garage doors, we can replace that noisy, heavy, drafty thing with something modern, light, and energy-efficient, and it'll cost a lot less than you may think!
  • Skylights
    • Just like replacement windows, new, modern skylights will make a big difference in the amount of heat you'll lose over the winter.
  • James Hardie or Vinyl Siding
And okay, we were just kidding about not doing a 'Game of Thrones' meme joke. ;)

You don't need to wait until Springtime!
Stop the rotting and damage to your house now before the winter weather makes it worse!

Should your Exterior Contractor be there for the Adjuster Meeting? Hail Damage?

Do you love your homeowner's insurance carrier?

Most people do. You're either neutral or you have a good relationship with your insurance agent, or are otherwise happy with your insurance company. Maybe they're been very supportive and have taken care of you very well.

In Colorado Springs or the surrounding areas?

Now you might have hail damage.

Is having your exterior / roofing contractor present with you for your Insurance Adjuster meeting important?

If you took the initiative to call your homeowner's insurance company to discuss possible hail damage before you called your roofer or were approached by one, chances are pretty good that they told you to let the adjuster take a look at it first, and then go from there, right?

Why is it vital to have your roofer and exterior contractor present for the adjuster meeting?

One of our customers, Mary in Security-Widefield, had her adjuster out before we stepped in to help.

Fortunately for Mary, the adjuster approved the replacement of her roof. Unfortunately for Mary, there was sufficient hail damage over the rest of the house that if a professional was present to meet with the adjuster on her behalf, the insurance company would have also given her money for the exterior paint, gutters, her deck, and fence.

But it was too late to include those other repairs with her claim without having to file a new claim with a new deductible!

Another one of our customers, Scott in Colorado Springs, took his insurance company's advice to keep a roofer out of it until the adjuster had a look. When the adjuster came out to Scott's property, he told Scott that only a small section of his roof was damaged enough to warrant coverage, and that the hail damage over the rest of it was from a previous storm and was too old.

When we arrived, our estimator was able to assess that the hail damage from all from the last storm, and it ended up being a hassle to go back and forth with the insurance company about setting up a new adjuster meeting with us present.

Fortunately for Scott, we were able to get the entire roof approved once we were present for the second meeting, but it should have happened this way in the first place--if only Scott had called us first.

What to do if you suspect you have hail damage?

Call us first.

Before you even deal with your insurance company, we'll make everything easier for you by first coming out and looking over the roof, etc., to determine whether or not there was even enough damage worth making a claim over. Other than being home for 20 minutes or so to let us look at the roof, that's no skin off your back--an inspection is totally free.

If there is sufficient damage, we'll guide you through the entire process.

And most importantly, we'll be there during the adjuster meeting to make sure you have good representation and achieve the best adjustment possible.

Give us a call today if you suspect you might have hail damage. If you've already called your insurance company, and the adjuster will be coming out soon, call us right away so that we have time to help you!
